This lighter impressed me!
I have many lighters and some vintage Thorens as well. I must say, the quality and feel of this new lighter is better than the vintage ones.
I would definitely buy another one!
It's a well-made, beautiful lighter, and it functions smoothly. Exactly as advertised.
I previously left a 3 star review on this product due to ignorance. My complaint was that the wind-guard didn't function well, but it's just the opposite, it functions fantastically.
Just make sure that you fray the wick considerably before use. The additional surface area gives you a bigger, stronger and more resilient flame when it comes to wind, especially when surrounded by the guard.
The order took almost a month to get to canada but I assure you, its worth the wait and I plan on purchasing another lighter from Thorens in the near future.

I read around the internet a lot of people were leery of ordering from this site since it has been taken over by a Chinese manufacturing group. As of 6/16/25, I can confirm that the product (specifically the Gen 6 - Double Claw - STORM - Wave Reflection) arrived to my home in the US and is definitely worth the cost. It takes just as long as advertised for shipping as it took 10 days to arrive, but it is great construction and seems to be a solid product. I'm already looking into buying a second lighter.
