Dampfpunk – Mechanischer Griff - Großes Zahnrad - Messing-Finish

Firstly, let me say that I’m not a smoker, nor have ever been. I wanted a lighter to use in my craft projects, and went looking for a trench lighter in brass as it complements some of my other tools. I spotted the Thorens Steampunk Lighters and loved the aesthetic, which is why I now own one. I could have bought something for less, but it would have been a lot less fun. It resonates with the boy that I once was.

The lighter feels weighty and sturdy in the hand. It looks like it has come from a bygone age and yet also from a reimagined future. In the same way that Art Deco is both functional and pleasing to the eye, steampunk fulfils both criteria for me. It’s something I will enjoy using.

The packing and presentation denotes an item of quality, with spare flints and wick that will last me for a long while, and a pouch for protection in transit. The lighter itself does not disappoint as it is beautifully made and an inspired design. I predict it will become a conversation piece as I can’t stop playing with it.

Briquet, ou plutôt petite œuvre d'art, en tous points conforme avec les photos du site. Un bon poids en main, signe dans le cas présent d'une grande qualité. Matériaux noble, finitions extrêmes, utilisation sans le moindre souci ! Un réel très grand plaisir que de commencer cette collection de briquets Thorens ! En acheter un seul me paraît impossible tellement on est agréablement surpris par la qualité par rapport au prix !!! Hubert.

Dobrý den! Čekal sem na něj asi 3 týdny do 🇨🇿 ale jsem spokojený. Nádherný zapalovač! Chyběl jeden šroubek (foto 1), ale jsou tam 4 náhradní, takže ok, ve víčku nádrže nemám náhradní kamínek. Buď je to jiný uzávěr, nebo se mi to nepovedlo otevřít podle popisu (foto 2). Kamínky se ale dají schovat do velkého kola ale o tom nikde zmínka není (foto 3). Potěšil přívěsek a malý multi šroubovák. Asi bude chtít doplnit vatu. Celkově sem velice spokojený a budu pořizovat další Thorens!!!!

Pure novelty, terrible lighter.

Is it well built? Yes. Is it a neat approach to ignition? Yes. Is it enjoyable to use? Absolutely not - user experience is cumbersome and the action is inconsistent.

Opening: you need to pry your fingernail under the lid and use force to open it. Not enjoyable

Igniting: spring loaded mech is cool but brutal on the user, while also producing an incosistent spark. Lighting it requires significant force on the spring loaded mech, and there’s zero purchse on the trigger so it just digs into the thumb.

Design: Very cool, but also misleading on the demo videos. There is no raching sound when turning the novelty gears - its just a smooth gear train. The gear train is quite delicate and any lateral pressure on the leading gear causes the gears to grab.

Overall, really cool and well built table weight but fails in both user experience and what matters most, ignition.

Sehr schönes Feuerzeug! Die mechanische Funktion ist absolut einwandfrei!!! Leider „hakt“ das große Steampunk-Zahnrad etwas beim Drehen… völlig irrelevant für die eigentliche Funktion, aber als reiner Sammler, trotzdem etwas ärgerlich!

Clever design, the attention to details of the moving parts are outstanding. Well made and high quality, well done Thorens.

It's a beautiful product—an object I’d like to carry every day. But because of its delicate design, I’m afraid it might break if I use it, so I only keep it on display at home. I’m especially concerned that the lid flips open so forcefully when lighting it that it could be damaged.

The product is good. However, it occasionally fails to ignite.

Nice little toy, feels good in hands, heavy. works perfectly. Good to play with if you're stressed.
Downsides - it's not wind resistant like Zippo and during assembly you should use threadlocker on bolts, they tend to fall out.
