Deze THORENS Double Claw Storm Wave-aansteker is een navulbare soft-flame benzineaansteker met massief messing lichaam, automatische ontsteking via een THORENS Double Claw-mechanische koppeling, verticaal gegraveerd golfpatroonoppervlak, gebrandmerkt vuursteenwieldetail, windresistente structuur en een onafhankelijk serienummer op de onderkant. Voor wie zichtbare mechanische actie, outdoor-bruikbaarheid, gestructureerd metaalwerk en praktisch everyday carry waardeert.
Het Double Claw-mechanisme activeert bij het openen van het deksel: twee klauwen grijpen het vuursteenwiel om een schone vonk te genereren en de zachte vlam te ontsteken. Vergeleken met standaard zakaanstekers geeft deze structuur het ontstekingsproces een zichtbaarder mechanisch karakter — met duidelijke beweging, geluid en tactiele feedback.
De buitenkant wordt bepaald door gelijkmatig gerangschikte verticale golfpatronen die ritmisch over het oppervlak lopen. It's a well-made, beautiful lighter, and it functions smoothly. Exactly as advertised.
I previously left a 3 star review on this product due to ignorance. My complaint was that the wind-guard didn't function well, but it's just the opposite, it functions fantastically.
Just make sure that you fray the wick considerably before use. The additional surface area gives you a bigger, stronger and more resilient flame when it comes to wind, especially when surrounded by the guard.
The order took almost a month to get to canada but I assure you, its worth the wait and I plan on purchasing another lighter from Thorens in the near future.

I read around the internet a lot of people were leery of ordering from this site since it has been taken over by a Chinese manufacturing group. As of 6/16/25, I can confirm that the product (specifically the Gen 6 - Double Claw - STORM - Wave Reflection) arrived to my home in the US and is definitely worth the cost. It takes just as long as advertised for shipping as it took 10 days to arrive, but it is great construction and seems to be a solid product. I'm already looking into buying a second lighter.

They advertise this as a Kerosene lighter however when I ask them where to buy the fuel they keep telling me to use Zipp Lighter fluid. I can get a 5 gallon container of Kerosene at Home Depot but what accessories are being used to transfer the fuel into a container that can pour into the small hole of the lighter. They have no accessories safe to hold Kerosene or recommendations. Don’t advertise it as a Kerosene lighter and tell your customers to use Zippo Lighter fluid. If I wanted a Zippo I would have bought that instead.

The very first generation of THORENS lighters dates back to the 1920s. These early models featured a single claw gripping the flint wheel, and when the lid was opened, the entire mechanical structure was fully revealed. Subsequently, the second generation of double-claw lighters was introduced, also with side refueling. Later improvements brought bottom-refueling designs: the third generation single-claw and the fourth generation double-claw models. The fifth generation upgraded to a windproof shield with a single claw, while the sixth generation featured a double-claw mechanism. There was also an additional generation with the TELEFLAM model, which had a retractable ignition mechanism.
In 2024, we resumed production of these models, maintaining the same quality standards. To make them easier to distinguish, we have continued using their original naming conventions.
