I will write a summary of an impression & problem i've encountered.
the flame is great, but the ignition wheel takes some attempt to ignite it. The "ping" sound is clear as what they advertised, but when its exposed to humid or concentration(by going from very cold area to hot, and causes water to be stick around the lighter) the "ping" sound will become dull, so you need to wait quite a bit for water to evaporate naturally for the sound to become clear once again. And the lid part, i don't know why but it budges when i put some pressure with my finger at the lid above where the striking roller is, and its about 0.5mm off(which is a LOT of error from precise CNC machinery) but doesn't affect the mechanism at all. Also some scratches on top of the lid but not a big deal.
Overall, i had a great experience with this lighter. I'd totally purchase this again.
The Worst lighter I have ever bought. The claw flies off the striking wheel all the time. I have lost numerous flins because the flint lock spring opens when the claw flies up.
There are lighters and then there are lighters. This is the later. Unconventional look. Performers really well for a pipe. Somewhat different to get use to it but flame will come out upward but as soon as you draw on your pipe...flame reverses and you get a very nice top of pipe burn.

To be honest, I half expected these to be cheap and flimsy, but they are far from it. Im definitely happy with my order. They seem sturdy, the tiny welds are immaculate, and the patina on the brass really adds character. The shipping took a while, but not outside of the realm of acceptable for a shipment from china to canada. I will absolutely be ordering again when i decide to grow my collection.

Great accessorie for your lighter, the red really gives some nice detail to the wick lighter.
Firstly, let me say that Iโm not a smoker, nor have ever been. I wanted a lighter to use in my craft projects, and went looking for a trench lighter in brass as it complements some of my other tools. I spotted the Thorens Steampunk Lighters and loved the aesthetic, which is why I now own one. I could have bought something for less, but it would have been a lot less fun. It resonates with the boy that I once was.
The lighter feels weighty and sturdy in the hand. It looks like it has come from a bygone age and yet also from a reimagined future. In the same way that Art Deco is both functional and pleasing to the eye, steampunk fulfils both criteria for me. Itโs something I will enjoy using.
The packing and presentation denotes an item of quality, with spare flints and wick that will last me for a long while, and a pouch for protection in transit. The lighter itself does not disappoint as it is beautifully made and an inspired design. I predict it will become a conversation piece as I canโt stop playing with it.
