THORENS · ROUND POCKET SERIES

A classic reawakened. The THORENS Round Pocket Series brings a long-discontinued round lighter design back into everyday life, pairing a distinctive circular silhouette with the charm of mechanical ignition.

Compact in the hand and made for the pocket, Round Pocket connects a historic THORENS design with the pleasure of carrying and using a mechanical object today.

A familiar circle. A distinctive character.

The Round Pocket Series takes its name from its rounded body and pocket-sized format. Its pocket-watch-inspired silhouette gives the lighter an immediately recognizable profile, with a curved outline that sits naturally in the palm.

The collection brings together this shared form and linked ignition experience. Individual models express their own character through surface patterns, colors, and finishes, allowing the series to grow while retaining its circular identity.

A design story recorded in 1933–1934

Swiss patent No. 167577, filed on 11 April 1933 and published on 1 May 1934 in the name of Hermann Thorens, Société Anonyme, documents a round fluid lighter with a lid-operated ignition mechanism.

The patent describes two driving arms positioned on opposite sides of the flint wheel. As the lid opens, their hooked ends pull against pins on the wheel, turning it to generate sparks and light the wick.

After a long period out of production, this classic round design returns as the Round Pocket Series. Newly made for today's users, it carries the historical design story into a new chapter.

Opening becomes ignition

Opening the lid activates a mechanical linkage that drives the flint wheel. The wheel strikes the flint to produce sparks and ignite a traditional wick-based soft flame, bringing lid movement and ignition together in one connected sequence.

This interaction is central to the Round Pocket experience: the movement of the mechanism is part of the appeal each time the lighter is used.

Open the lid. Set the mechanism in motion. Spark. Flame.

A compact mechanical sequence, brought to life by the motion of the lid.

Care and maintenance

  • Supplied without fuel. Fill with compatible lighter fluid before first use.
  • Refill with the flame extinguished, away from ignition sources. Avoid overfilling, wipe away spilled fuel, and allow residue to evaporate before lighting.
  • Keep the flint wheel and linkage free from dust and residue. Follow the product instructions when replacing the flint or maintaining the wick.
  • Use a soft cloth for decorated surfaces and avoid abrasives that could damage the finish.
