THORENS Celestial Compass is a master-crafted, refillable solid brass soft flame lighter featuring a precision CNC-machined insert, a CNC-machined brass outer shell, four-sided precision laser relief engraving inspired by celestial charts and compasses, multicolor hand-applied detailing, a wind-resistant ignition structure, removable flint wheel, dual copper ignition-assist plates, a modular bottom refueling system, and a traditional wick-based flame system. Designed for those who appreciate vintage celestial artwork, intricate relief craftsmanship, hand-finished color details, and maintainable mechanical construction, it combines everyday ignition functionality with a collectible design inspired by celestial navigation.

To ignite, open the lid and rotate the flint wheel. Copper plates positioned on both sides of the wheel assist in producing a more stable spark, which ignites the traditional wick-based soft flame. The wind-resistant ignition structure helps improve ignition stability in light outdoor wind, making the lighter suitable for everyday carry, camping, hiking, and outdoor use. The removable flint wheel also makes routine cleaning, inspection, and maintenance more convenient. Please note that this model does not produce the pronounced opening sound associated with THORENS Crisp Sound lighters; however, closing the lid produces a clear mechanical closing sound.

The outer shell is CNC-machined from a single piece of brass with hollowed sections, while the exterior features precision laser relief engraving. All four sides are decorated with celestial charts, compasses, wings, the sun, the moon, Roman numerals, and vintage Latin-inspired elements. Multicolor hand-applied detailing creates layered contrasts between gold, deep blue, silver, and aged shadow effects, giving the lighter the appearance of a classical navigational instrument or antique celestial chart. Because the coloring and finishing details are completed by hand, subtle variations in color, texture, and shading will occur from piece to piece, giving every lighter its own distinctive handcrafted character.

The machined insert is removable and replaceable, supporting standard lighter fluid, flint replacement, and wick maintenance. The modular bottom structure allows convenient refueling and makes routine inspection and basic maintenance more straightforward. By removing the two screws on the bottom, the entire lower module can be detached for easier replacement of the wick and internal cotton. A side-mounted securing structure helps keep the machined insert firmly positioned inside the outer shell. The flat-top and flat-bottom body provides greater stability when placed upright and also makes the lighter suitable as a desk piece, collectible display item, or long-term mechanical soft flame lighter.
